How complete oeuvre consists of 2 types of projects:
1. The homes based on which he developed his own ‘prairie style’. This is inspired by the American countryside landscape, characterised by horizontal structures, geometric figuration and spatial merging of indoors and outdoors. The Robie house in the south of Chicago, near Chicago University, is the most iconic work of this period. Another highlight is Kaufmann House in Bear Run, Pennsylvania, better know as Falling Water House, an example of the power of his designs, to have nature melt into the building. The house is built over a waterfall.
2. More than the private homes, large buildings required applying modern construction methods and being more thoughtful in the detail of his designs. An example is the Johnson Wax Company in Racine, Wisconsin, characterised by powerful curved shapes and a central work space, covered by slender, mushroom-shaped concrete pillars.
