Moving your store, strategically a smart move
In 2015, Maarten and Wouter took over the Van Dis Optiek shop in Hardinxveld. Eight years later, the interior was not yet very outdated in the base and a number of pieces of furniture have been moved. But the store grew out of its jacket due to the increased clientele. With an eye to the future, Maarten decided to dispose of the rental property and to buy its own property on a large, high-profile location of 210 m². There is enough space here for more different refraction, optometry and hearing care professionals’ rooms. Van Leeuwen Optiek has become a regional eye centre. Well done in eight years!

The philosophy behind a transparent shop design
The shop is almost completely round at the front with a view on all sides of the square and the main street. Rick Blankenstijn of WSB: ‘Our philosophy (of Wouter, Maarten and me) was to create a transparent store with a wow experience on the outside. Now that was not easy because the building had an outdated appearance on the outside. But a complete wrapping and façade renovation in a stylish dark color have emphasized the collection inside the store and the craftsmanship of the team. Because the building is higher on the square side, attention has been paid to an attractive and dark ceiling with cool eco-green elements. The play of colors and the designed materials received special attention from Maarten, Wouter and WSB. We wanted to create an attractive, high-quality and creative look without it looking too luxurious or too cheap. Wouter and Maarten have a pretty good feel for their eyewear collection. On the one hand, this revolves around good quality brands, but also high-quality and affordable collections where you do not pay so much for the brand as for the quality in the store. There is a real focus on a nice collection of children’s glasses and computer glasses!’
