Industrial optical store design for Optik Güßbacher
Following the continued success of Optik Güßbacher and the arrival of Manuel, the next generation of the family business, the Wohl family began searching for a larger retail space. They found the perfect location in the historic centre of Regensburg, where a former mountain sports store of approximately 300 m² became available.
The vision for the new optical store design was clear from the beginning: an industrial yet sophisticated interior with its own distinctive identity. Alongside designer eyewear and exclusive brands such as Maybach, sport plays an important role in the product range. Dedicated presentation areas were therefore created for shooting sports, ice hockey and baseball. The result is a unique optical store with a striking sporting character.
Open workshop and smart customer flow
The workshop was intentionally positioned at the front of the store and remains fully visible to visitors. This allows customers to experience the craftsmanship of the optician while creating an immediate connection between the team and everyone entering the store.
A circular room divider with eyewear displays naturally guides customers through the store while providing privacy for consultation areas. By placing both the workshop and seating area near the entrance, the interior feels dynamic and inviting. Passers-by instantly notice the activity inside, encouraging them to step in and explore the store.
Custom retail interior within budget
To optimise the available budget, the existing ceiling, part of the lighting system and the PVC flooring were retained. By combining modular furniture from Forbettershops.com with bespoke interior solutions by WSB Design, a distinctive optical store interior was created without exceeding the project’s budget.
