Design for Bijouterie Laurent
In Belgium’s French-speaking region, WSB designed a new store interior for Bijouterie Laurent. Rick Blankenstijn, retail architect at WSB: “Bijouterie Laurent had a well-run shop in Chatelineau. With the expansion of the ‘Les Grand Pres’ in Mons Bijouterie Laurent on relocating to this mall. The number of shoppers in this shopping centre is huge. The shopping centre is a shopper magnet with the presence of a Carrefour, a large Ikea, and all major fashion labels such as H&M. Nice restaurants for lunch. Gigantic parking lots. This is the shopping center of the future, future-ready until 2030!
The shop concept of the jewellery shop
Olivier Laurent (in French): Why WSB? “WSB makes discerning shops. We had a click in the very first conversation. We wanted experience, safety in all openness, a cheerful ambiance and innovation. More than just a collection of ‘glass boxes jeweller shop’. What was the pricing like: “The prices are attractive in view of the total investment. One contractor that realises everything is a must.” Were there any problems during construction? “The shopping mall has enormous leaks after heavy rainfall, and Rick Blankenstijn managed to find a very adequate solution.” What does your future look like with this shop? “Next year we will open in Charleroi with a new shop, also created by WSB. And however great this shop is, we will have a completely different design. Then we are not all the same.
Rick Blankenstijn of WSB: “The retail design of the shop has a layered structure. In the ceilings (multiple layers and disks), the floor with the tumbled warm-white stone in combination with a golden carpet, the chic leather fabrics of the couch. It invites touching.
